In Europe, bicycle highways are a powerful emerging tool to attract new riders, replace vehicle trips, and improve public health. They enable safe and comfortable long-distance bike travel between major destinations.
Most North American urban areas lack high-quality infrastructure for long-distance cycling trips. This gap will become more critical as e-bikes continue to shrink distances, making long cycling trips easier and more accessible.
Using international examples our presenters gave an overview of bicycle highway planning, design, and implementation.
