Another busy round of TAC’s Spring Technical Meetings wrapped up last week. Over five weeks this year, 32 online meetings attracted 802 unique individuals and 1,527 total participants – a remarkable 24% increase over last year! This growth is a testament to our members’ dedication and active participation. Thank you to everyone who joined in, shared information discussed issues, and advanced our collaborative work. Watch for meeting highlights to be shared in TAC’s media in the coming weeks.
The Association’s Board of Directors also met in April. As part of their agenda, Board members received a presentation and had an engaged discussion about artificial intelligence in transportation. They recognize that the opportunities and challenges associated with AI’s evolution are important to TAC and its members. Conversations on the topic will continue.
The Board also reviewed TAC’s activities over the last year and approved a budget and workplan for 2024/25. The workplan includes a few special initiatives in addition to the products and services already familiar to members. In the year ahead, TAC will:
- Convene an online symposium on Equity in Transportation.
- Unveil a revamped website with new features to simplify the user experience.
- Grow the Learning Program with new online training courses on geometric design, goods movement and data governance to complement our existing courses on road safety and roundabout planning and design (also coming soon – learners who complete a TAC training course will earn a digital badge to document their achievement).
- Organize a national online event on careers in transportation, allowing TAC member organizations to highlight employment opportunities for post-secondary students and recent graduates.
With those and other ongoing activities, TAC strives to support members and we welcome your feedback about ways that we can help. To that end, we’ll survey members in the next few weeks. You’ll have the chance to tell us how satisfied you are with TAC products, programs, and services, and to suggest new directions for TAC to consider.
We look forward to hearing what you have to say!
