Community Road Safety in British Columbia

This webinar introduced the BC Community Road Safety Toolkit, which was designed to transfer best practices to cities and towns across the province. Its three modules offer effective strategies and tools to enhance municipal road safety programs.

The webinar profiled the small community of Chilliwack, BC, which has shown how setting goals, building relationships and fostering engagement can yield big road safety rewards, even when resources are limited.

Presenters

Raheem Dilgir, TranSafe Consulting Ltd.

Raheem is the president of TranSafe Consulting and has been a road safety specialist for 23 years. He is on the Board of the Canadian Association of Road Safety Professionals, and has been an active on TAC and CITE technical committees. He develops and delivers transportation safety plans and programs for government agencies.

Samantha Piper, City of Chilliwack, BC

Samantha is the City of Chilliwack’s Public Safety Specialist and Safer City Coordinator, a position that allows her to drive change through passion, skill, expertise and creativity, and by combining empathy with compassion. With 25 years of experience in municipal government, Samantha recognizes the value of an engaged team and dependable partnerships; her “Safer City Team” includes several organizations that focus on road safety.
